Russian Army Ranks

Post  OptimusGonzo on Wed Oct 10, 2007 3:42 pm

Can someone explain to me or show me a good link explaining the ranks of the Russian army and their abreviations, with their equivalent in a different army like the US army or one I know the ranks for? Does Russia even use the same grade system for soldiers of each branch? I'd like to know! greatly appreciated!

wow that's really useful, is there a website you got that from? I noticed their grade system is somewhat different from ours, wikipedia has a the US system
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pay_grade , which is mostly used when describing the equivalence betwen ranks like a captain is a colonel in the navy etc etc....

anyway, thanks!that was really exactly what I was looking for!
